Biography  -  Greg Barnes and Family

Greg was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on the
14th day of May, 1967. He heard a sound gospel
sermon preached on Easter Sunday, April 10, 1977
and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In
1986 Greg  joined the U.S. Army and in 1988 was
transferred to Ft. Bliss, El Paso, Texas. Upon arriving
at El Paso, Greg sought out a good bible preaching
church to attend and was led to the Hillcrest Baptist
church. That first Sunday morning, he knew he had
found the church for him and soon thereafter joined
the church. It was at Hillcrest that he met his future
bride, Carla Estrada, who was already a faithful
member

About Us
Carla was born in the country of Guatemala and immigrated to the U.S. in 1976. She moved to El Paso
in1982 and was led to the Lord, in 1985, by a youth worker on post. Later, being invited to visit Hillcrest by
none other than Pastor Bob Stewart, she came to Hillcrest and was baptized in 1987. On July 15th, 1989,
Pastor Bob Stewart married Greg and Carla.

Around October of 1989, Greg began to feel the call of God upon his heart to enter the full-time gospel
ministry as a missionary. Still serving in the Army and not wanting to give that up, Greg struggled with this
call until February of 1990 when he finally surrendered and made a public profession before the church.

After serving over eight years in the U.S. Army, the Barnes family moved to Peoria, Illinois so that Greg could
attend the Fellowship Baptist College. While in his first year of Bible College, God impressed upon Greg’s
heart the country of Argentina. After, this they began serving in the First Baptist Church of Dunlap, Illinois
and prepared for their future ministry in Argentina.

In 1998 they began deputation to raise support for their ministry and in May of 2002 they left for the country
of Argentina.

Through the years God has blessed Carla and Greg abundantly in many areas of their lives, but they are
especially grateful for the eight children that God has given them. The three eldest of whom have made
professions of faith in Jesus Christ. They are: Hannah, Caleb, Joanna, Lydia, Abigail, Jared, Nathanael,
and Miriam.
